Bollywood superstar Salman Khan acquitted at Jodhpur CJM court in Arms Act case linked to poaching

Salman Khan was on Wednesday acquitted by a court in Jodhpur in an over 18-year-old Arms Act case.

Chief Judicial Megistrate Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit, after completing the hearing on January 9 in a case registered in 1999, had reserved judgement for Wednesday.

Salman and his sister Alveera arrived in the CJM court in Jodhpur on Wednesday and after giving him the benefit of doubt, the court acquits the actor in the Arms Act case.

" Salman Khan acquitted in the Arms Act case after the prosecution failed to provide conclusive evidence," Salman Khan's Lawyer said.

The court has also asked five Bollywood actors, including Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan, to be present in court on January 25 in connection with an 18-year-old poaching case.

"The court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) asked Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and one other person to be personally present before the court on January 25 for recording of their statements in the blackbuck poaching case," Hastimal Saraswat, Salman Khan's counsel, told media.

Salman Khan and several other Bollywood stars were accused of poaching blackbucks on the midnight of October 1-2, 1998 during the filming of Hindi movie 'Hum Saath Saath Hain'.

Two blackbucks, protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, were killed on the outskirts of Kankani village near Jodhpur.
