Saints not safe under govt headed by saint: Mayawati Last Updated : 12 Oct 2020 02:24:04 PM IST Mayawati Condemning the murderous attack on a temple priest in Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo on Monday took a dig at the state government by saying that "even saints are not safe in the administration headed by a saint".
Raising questions over the law and order in Uttar Pradesh, the former Chief Minister demanded beefed-up security for saints and other holy men in the state."Like in Rajasthan, the attack on a temple priest in Gonda district by the land mafia to grab the temple land is shameful. Now, even the saints are not safe under the government led by a saint. What more worse in law and order can that be?" the BSP leader tweeted.She demanded that the state government take note of all aspect of the crime and take strict action against the mafia, including forfeiture of their properties.On Saturday, persons connected to the land mafia had shot and injured priest Samrat Das in his shoulder in Gonda district over land issue.IANS Lucknow For Latest Updates Please-
