Correlations has been made between the speech of Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid in a fresh supplementary charge sheet filed in a case related to the alleged conspiracy in the communal violence in northeast Delhi in February, Delhi Police told a court on Monday.

The supplementary charge sheet filed on Sunday before Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat of Karkardooma court ran into 930 pages, and was against former JNU student Umar Khalid, university's research scholar Sharjeel Imam and one Faizan Khan.

The case pertains to a 'conspiracy' to incite the riots, which had left 53 people dead and 748 injured in February earlier this year.

The police has claimed that the communal violence was a "premeditated conspiracy allegedly hatched by Khalid and others".

"On January 23, Sharjeel Imam gave a speech in Bihar, while Umar gave it in Maharashtra. The lines in the speech were identical.

"Imam says that 'chaar hafte mai desh ko kya court ko bhi nani yaad aa jayegi'. This four weeks translates to one month. Umar said that Donald Trump is coming on February 23 and we are going to revolt," Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad told the court.

The prosecutor added, "The connect is that Imam and Khalid spoke on the same lines. The issue was not CAA or NRC, Imam goes on to say that it is a mauka, the issue is 370, Ayodhya and triple talaq. It was coloured with CAA/NRC."

The new charge sheet has added speeches of Imam and Khalid. The latter's role 2016 onwards has also been made part of the charge sheet. "We have added two speeches of Sharjeel Imam. The important aspect is that the idea was divisive.

"In both the speeches, the intent was that India has to be divided and bifurcated.

"Rest of the material is in the main charge sheet."

Amit Prasad further told the court that a narrative is being established that it was a peaceful protest to protect the democracy. However, "it was not the democracy which was being protected, it was mobacracy which was being pushed", he emphasized.

The charge sheet against the duo and one Faizan Khan was filed under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and sections related to criminal conspiracy, murder, rioting, sedition, unlawful assembly and promoting enmity on the grounds of religion, language, caste under the Indian Penal Code.

The first 17,500-page charge sheet in the case against 15 people was filed by Delhi Police two months ago. It named Tahir Hussain, Safoora Zargar, Gulfisha Khatoon, Devangana Kalita, Shafa-ur-Rehman, Asif Iqbal Tanha, Natasha Narwal, Abdul Khalid Saifi, Ishrat Jahan, Meeran Haidar, Shadab Ahamd, Talsim Ahmad, Saleem Malik, Mohammed Salim Khan and Athar Khan.
