A class nine student of a prominent city school died after being hit by a local train here on Thursday morning, police said.
"Ayobin Jana, student of Kolkata's Don Bosco School, who was travelling with one of his classmates, somehow fell on the railway track at the Park Circus railway station and was run over by the approaching train at around 11.20 a.m," a railway police officer from Ballygunge GRPS said.
"The boy died on the spot," he added.
Police released the classmate after primary interrogation.
"This is a clear case of accident. The body has been sent for autopsy," the officer said.
